What’s the difference between Australia and the USA?
-Well USA drinking law means you can’t drink if you are under 21. Must be under 0.08 to drive.
– The time difference
– Drive on the right side of the road
– Hand guns are illegal in Australia
– Temperature is in Fahrenheit not Celsius
– Pounds rather than kilograms
To name a few. I remember the first time we moved to the USA I thought it would be very similar, boy was I wrong.
From credit history to Walmart to Department of Motor Vehicle to Holidays such as Thanksgiving to health insurance, everything is different.
It isn’t a bad thing, it is just different.
Living in the USA, I feel I have more opportunities. Why is that? Is it because more people live here or is it that I make opportunities happen?
I mean when you know you may only live somewhere for a certain period of time you do have the tenancy to make the most of it- travel more, hunt for work opportunities, live each moment as though you may not be here tomorrow. Is that what expat’s do? Make the most of it?
I think that no matter where you live and what you do, each of us should live each moment as those it is your last.
Mum is always telling me live in the presence and don’t wish your life away. She is right. Mum is one wise women.
So I will continue the second chapter of my expat journey and live each moment.
” life is not a dress rehearsal”
